Engage with UMB’s Middle States Self-Study: Attend the Town Halls and Learn More

UMB is undergoing a comprehensive evaluation process to ensure that it meets the standards set by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and as part of that evaluation, the University hosted five town halls to engage students and employees in the process. Co-chaired by Provost and Executive Vice President Roger J. Ward and School of Dentistry Dean Mark Reynolds, the town hall events focused on the MSCHE’s Seven Standards of Accreditation, wherein participants were asked to provide feedback on each standard and a chapter of the Middle States Self-Study.

Throughout this essential accreditation process, UMB will be gathering information to examine its compliance with the commission’s standards, as well as identifying areas and strategies for improvement. The Self-Study Steering Committee, which is comprised of 24 staff, faculty, and student representatives, has appointed seven working groups for the self-study, each group focusing on one of the standards. By attending one of the town halls, participants had the opportunity to share their views with the Self-Study Steering Committee in order to ensure that the University meets or exceeds MSCHE’s accreditation standards.
